Fiona Leahy is the fashion world’s event designer of choice. She has thrown the parties for Dita von Teese, Jade Jagger, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Middle Eastern Royalty. We are sharing the evening rituals of very stylish woman behind the most opulent and decadent events and parties.
What are your evening beauty rituals?
I always without fail have an Epsom or sea salt bath. I wash my face with Kangen water and put rose oil on my body.
When I can, I meditate. I believe that a meditation, a calm mind and lashings of alkaline water are better than any anti-wrinkle cream. I go to sleep with rose quartz and an array of crystals and flowers by my bed. Going to sleep and waking up marvelling nature put me in a positive state of mind.
What is the very first thing that you do when you get home after long working day?
I take off my shoes and light incense & candles like someone possessed! I find that lighting elements brings a shift to the environment. I love Yogi teas and always make some when I come home.
What are your favourite ways to unwind?
My favourite ways to unwind are meditation, I also adore Gong meditations and sound baths -those are just sublime. Walking my dog is another favourite and having a bath with Epsom salts and lots of rose oil…. My absolute favourite way is to walk in the countryside. Nature is the best healer, even a few hours on Hampstead Heath can elevate any mood.
Early bird or night owl?
Definitely a night owl. I could read, watch movies and make things into the small hours. My most inspired moments are late ones and I love late night brainstorming and designing. I doubt I will ever be an early bird, it’s just not how I am programmed. I have tried and now I accept my rhythms and allow myself to live in the way that suits me best.
In the evening you wear:
Silk pyjamas or a silk slip. I love Olivia Von Halles’s pyjamas and I have a wonderful collection of silk robes and kimonos that I wonder around in. I love wafting around at home in beautiful things. In some ways, what I wear at home, is of more importance than what I wear regularly outside .
Bedside table essentials:
My collection of crystals, which I rotate depending on need and mood. Rose quartz is a constant, Wendy Mandy’s rose oil (she makes it herself), which I rub into my pulse points, my Himalayan salt lamp which gives a flattering rosy glow and I always have beautiful flowers by my bed, that’s a must! Mariage Frères incense is also always there- I like to go to sleep in a haze of insence.
Good sleep remedy/potion:
If I can’t get to sleep I listed to Terrence the Teachers sleep app. He is a hypnotist and his voice sends me off. If I am jetlagged melatonin but otherwise Yogi Choco tea and a clear mind work for me.
What time you are in bed:
I try for 11 however I am a night owl and even on quiet nights alone I can stay up pottering and reading until the early hours. I am trying for earlier. I always get 8 hours sleep if not more.
